Maybe we should get Polar Bear to use our new security door for the User Services Workroom? My nose is getting sore from banging into the door – I dread to think what would happen to Bear!

I hope the embedding works our no-one will have a clue what I’m laughing at.

Library Thing

Nah, not for me, this one I’m afraid. I do read alot (an awful lot!) but I can’t do with reviewing books, pulling them to pieces and putting them back together again. If I like it, I like it and I don’t want to have to think about why I like it – I just accept that I do.

I don’t see the point in cataloguing my books either. I have a book shelf for that. A bookshelf that I can look at much easier than I can any database. OK maybe not if I am away from home but then I have never been in such a rush to see what books I possess that it can’t wait till I get home. After all, if I needed to know something about the book so badly I would probably have to thumb through it anyway to make sure it was the right one/said what I thought it said, etc.

Pointless.

But then again, there was a link through to ReadIt, SwapIt - now there’s a site I could use. I have dozens of books that I know I won’t read again that I would happily swap with someone for something better. And it’s free!!!! (apart from postage and packing!). A bit of an online Stringers-meets-Ebay, but less complicated. Brilliant idea! Why didn’t I think to look for something like that before? I am still back to cataloguing but at least there is a purpose to it now. I am a happy bunny.

Love it! Me and the boys had a hoot creating these pictures. I could have spent hours doing this task.

This was done on the South Park site suggested in 25 things. I then put the picture onto a banner using Comic Strip:

And then made myself into a jigsaw using the Image Chef

And now I'm a jigsaw

Good or what??

I wasn’t too impressed with the smiley faces – they were just plain boring in comparison.

But then I made myself into an avatar using the last site suggested:

OK – so I was a bit creative here. I only actually look like that in my dreams! Ah well – maybe I’ll put more slap on tomorrow. ))

I love Facebook. I have been on it for a few months now and have now become addicted. It started when I created a new group – just to see what happened and left it alone for a while. The next time I looked I had 44 members! There are now 53.

Facebook is a fab way to keep up with friends that you don’t see very often. You get to find out what they are up to, where they have been through photos etc. You can also do compatibility tests, send each other virtual gifts and make little comments on their status.

I have been lucky enough to find two old school friends that I had lost touch with and now love to see what they are up to.

Just joined Twitter tonight and I am unconvinced at the moment. I definately prefer Facebook because there is more of interest to me but Twitter could be handy as a quick catch up. Unfortunately none of my friends other than those doing 25 things are on Twitter so it is not too good for me just yet – but we’ll see …

I created a map here showing 3 different locations for people who are important to me, but close enough to fit on one map. I have used Google maps before loads of times, but have never saved them because they are usually one-offs. This might come in handy in future, we will have to see.

Now this is one I REALLY like )) How have I survived without it? How many times have I sat at work and wanted to access a website that I have bookmarked at home and can’t remember the name? Too many to count. Very handy for people as forgetful as me.

I like the way bookmarks can be organised by tagging too. I have lots of bookmarks at home that are not in any particular folder because I know I would spend ages looking in the wrong folders. You can have as many tags as you like on one website and whichever tag you look under you should find the one you want.

It could be really handy on the help desk. There are loads of IE icons on the desktop, tabs and also bookmarks in IE all going to different sources of information. We could tidy it all up and put it on delicious. Just need to find the time to do it now (

Yep. I get this one. I think that this could be really handy for both home and work. I have subscribed to:

A site that provides tips on using Macs – not got a clue so every bit helps!
Techie blogs – might be a bit too indepth for me though.
Huddersfield Examiner for local stuff
Budget Fashionista – for money saving fashion tips
25 Things – of course!
Dilbert – to keep me smiling )) See? It works

… and a few others.

I like the idea, but I’m not sure how much I would use it. I have subscribed to regular email newsletters in the past and after reading the first few I end up just deleting them. I have a feeling I would look at these for a few weeks and then just stop looking. But we will wait and see – you never know I might surprise myself.

OK I get this bit of Flickr. Uploading photos so that everyone (or whoever you want) can look at them. You never know I might even use it in ‘real’ life ))

I have chosen photos of my beloved Ziggy to go on Flickr. I have had him for just over a month now so it is still ‘new love’ between us. I’m sure my husband doesn’t mind the new man in my life. ))

Here is a photo of a shopping expedition a couple of Saturdays ago. We went to a homewares closing down sale and as I am doing up my living room at the moment I went a bit over the top. We had THREE (yes three) shopping trolleys full of stuff – curtains, tables, cushions, pictures, pans … to fit in one Mini with 4 large women. Not an easy feat! Laugh? I’ll say we did. There was a man watching us absolutely gob-smacked – he kept saying “You’ll never fit it all in, you will have to make another trip”.

Well really! When will men learn that that kind of comment just makes us more determined??? It all fitted in with one trip and nobody catching the bus home. I don’t know what they were complaining about – I had loads of room in the driver’s seat …

Not sure about this one just yet. I understand what it is about but I get the feeling that I don’t really get it – know what I mean??? I just didn’t know what to look for, so after alot of aimless wandering around Flickr, trying to work out what tilt shift photography is (see Bryony’s blog) and looking at all sorts of cool pictures (that frustrate me cos I can never get my photos to look cool) I chose a photo of a mini cooper.

Nice bit of parking!

Cos he looks a bit like my Ziggy. Watch the next post for photos of him. ))

Woo hoo! We’re off …

OK. That was pretty painless (so far!) and didn’t take the full hour so that’s good. )

I have created a blog before but abandoned it pretty much straight away so it will be nice to create one and actually use it for a while. I’ll probably get more out of it too.

Setting up the email accounts and the blog were pretty straight forward – this malarkey should be OK if it all goes as smoothly as the first week …
